This weekend’s football looks a little dreary when it comes to betting options with the best two betting games being played on Sunday and Monday. Tomorrow’s games almost look to be well suited for the home teams, however, we may find one or two value bets hiding in amongst them. It’s certainly time we too come back from the online bookmakers.
Birmingham host West Bromwich in the opening game with the hosts riding high following their win against Arsenal in last weekend’s Carling Cup final – that’s the first trophy for Birmingham in 48 years. Both sides are still in danger of relegation so this game could be considered a six pointer. Birmingham are 11/8 with online bookmakers and worthy favourites at home. West Brom and the draw are both at 12/5 – 12/10 if you want to back both results. We’re tipping a home win but it won’t be by much.
The other games should see home wins with Arsenal (5/11) hosting Sunderland (15/2); Bolton (13/10) hosting Aston Villa (23/10); Fulham (3/4) hosting Blackburn (9/2); Newcastle (13/8) hosting Everton (15/8); and West Ham (13/10) hosting Stoke (5/2). If there is to be an upset then perhaps Sunderland can cause it by drawing with Arsenal – it depends on whether or not the Gunners are still thinking about last weekend’s loss.
Tomorrow’s final game is between Manchester City and Wigan. Although Wigan are 9/1, they are being backed in having opened at 10/1. This is an interesting match as City have drawn at home to Blackburn, Birmingham, and Fulham while Wigan have drawn away from home with Bolton, West Brom, and Liverpool and they defeated Tottenham on the road earlier in the year. They look to be well over at 9/1 with those stats.
City, on the other hand, are too short at 2/5. The best bet all day is the draw at 4/1 and that’s our tip. I’d suggest you have a little saver on a Wigan win as well – at 9/1 they’re good odds.
