It’s human nature to gamble and it is certainly one of the favourite past-times of just about every culture in the world. The internet has brought untold opportunities to those that like to have a punt including online casinos, bookmakers and online betting tools. If you’re an online punter, have you used any of the online betting tools available?
There are two tools that I use all the time. The first, the odds comparison ladder, is not really essential, especially if you’re quick with a calculator. The odds comparison table is just a quick look up chart that converts standard bookmaker odds like 2/1 to decimal odds like 3.00. Now I know many people will say you can set these as preferences on your preferred gambling site – and you can. However, these settings are often set in your cookies, and if you regularly clear your cookies or your cache, they are lost and have to be reset all the time. A comparison table is a nice quick and easy tool to use.
The second tool I like is a bet calculator. This is really handy if you like accumulators, especially the all-ways accumulators that pay on doubles, trebles etc. The bet calculator can tell you how much a bet is going to cost and what odds you can expect if your selections win.
If we use this Saturday’s football as an example, and assume a flat stake of £10, there are a total of 247 accumulator bets for a cost of £2470. If I get all 8 winners – look out, it’s a return of £160,448.48. If I only get 7 right, I still get a return of £50,016.90 and for 6 right, £17,142.20. From there, of course, it does go down hill. Five right will see me just break even or make a small profit. Of course, it all depends on the prices – the home teams this Saturday include Manchester United at 1/7 and Hull at 9/2. If you were to back the favourites only, 8 winners would still return over £65,000.
It rarely happens and it’s a big stake – but even if you simply took the single 8 bet accumulator on the favourites (instead of the multiples) – the cost would be a single bet of £10 and the return £2493 – that’s better odds than the lottery.
