If you’re a keen football punter then this weekend may deliver slim pickings as most online bookmakers close out the favourites in each match. Manchester United are at 1/3 to win their encounter with the Wolves. The biggest hurdle for United is the away factor. Even at 10/1, I don’t think I can support Wolves to stop United. The draw at 4/1 does look tempting and if pushed for a bet, that’s my tip. For United, a win in this match will see them shoot to the top of the table again.
The online bookmakers have really shut punters out of the Arsenal game. They are at 1/7 to take the points from Burnley (22/1). Arsenal at home at this time of the year against lowly opposition, even the 1/7 looks good value. If you’re desperate for a bet then back Arsenal all the way to the bank. A win will take them to 61 points, level with current leaders Chelsea (who aren’t playing this weekend’s round).
Saturday’s final match may offer some hope for punters. West Ham have bounced out of the bottom of the table and a home win against Bolton could almost ensure their safety from the relegation zone. For Bolton, a loss could see them sink further into relegation territory. West Ham are at 5/6 to win with Bolton at 4/1. The draw at 5/2 looks a good bet to me – I don’t expect Bolton to win, but they will make their presence felt.
On Sunday, Everton are 2/5 at home to grab the three points against a disappointing Hull (9/1) – anther easy home win at short odds. On Monday, online bookmakers have Liverpool 8/13 away from home. Fortunately, their opponents are on the slide. Wigan are being kept safe at 5/1 and do have the player strength to be competitive. Liverpool seem to have found a little extra of late and although away from home, should win. If you want value then back the draw at 3/1.
All the favourites are fairly short this weekend with online bookmakers. It’s a sign the season is coming to an end. Looking for the best value bet for the weekend – West Ham and Bolton to draw at 5/2.
