Manchester United has had one of its best starts to a season for many years and this is being reflected in the betting odds being offered across all competitions. In Champions League betting, United continue to firm with some bookmakers offering as low as 6/1 – the best price on offer was BlueSquare at 7/1. Manchester City and Chelsea are both steady at 12/1. Those odds will change following this weeks ties, especially if Arsenal continue their poor start to the season.
In today’s games, Bayern Munich (20/19) will like their chances when they host Manchester City (31/10). City have been enigmatic over the years, having one of the highest paid squads, yet never really delivering anything of note. This season has seen a positive start, however, traveling still seems to be their nemesis. Bayern are a good team, and at home, will worry City. We’re tipping the Germans to hold their own and come out victors. They are good odds for a home team too.
The second game of interest today is between Manchester United (1/5) and Basel (20/1). This is another game featuring United where the question is not who will win, but by how much. We’re tipping United to win 4-0.e
Tomorrow, Arsenal (2/5) will host Olympiakos (9). The positives are that Arsenal are starting to find the back of the net, and that they are starting to win games. The negatives, it’s still hard to back Arsenal with any confidence. Fortunately, Olympiakos are not setting the world on fire either. We’ll tip the Gunners, perhaps they are finally getting their season in order.
The best betting game of the week features Valencia (21/10) hosting Chelsea (6/4). Recent news stories have focused on Chelsea’s burning desire to win this tournament. They have to win away from home, and they have to beat quality teams like Valencia as well. Chelsea has had an indifferent start to the season, however, I am more confident of them winning this game than Arsenal winning theirs. Chelsea to win a tight encounter. Take a saver on the draw at 23/10 as well – it will be close.
