Toffees Good Value As Villa On The Slide

It’s a fairly unexciting weekend of football ahead of us this week and many of the top sides take on those closer to the bottom than the top. This means their odds are fairly short, in some cases too short to even worry about placing a bet. A closer look reveals one or two interesting games that could produce good value winners. Here’s this weekend’s wrap of the football and our best value bets.

  • Arsenal (4/6) maybe away to Blackburn (11/2) but I can’t see the Rovers winning – Gunners by a couple.
  • Spurs (2/7) host Wigan (12/1) in what should be a romp in the park – could we see another six goal onslaught? Spurs by five or six.
  • Manchester United (1/6) should bounce back from last weekend’s draw with another high scoring win against West Ham (22/1) – United by two or three
  • Chelsea (1/8) host Stoke (28/1) and this could be another six for the EPL leaders.
  • Liverpool (1/4) host West Brom (15/1) on Sunday and while the hosts are not in great form, they should justify their short odds.

That’s the easy picks out of the way. If you’re looking for a surprise result from that group then perhaps consider Stoke – they can be tough, but I doubt you’ll see much in the way of surprises there.

The game that may be interesting, at least from a betting perspective, is the Villa – Everton game on Sunday. Villa seem to be in the slide to hell having had little success since losing their manager. They have already been eliminated from the Europa League suffering a humiliating loss at home last night. They meet Everton who are yet to win a game and will be keen to strike while Villa are in disarray. Everton are 2/1 to win with online bookmakers making Villa marginal favourites at 8/5. The Toffees may just sneak an away win here.

Sunderland at home to Manchester City could be another interesting game. City have a win and a draw to their credit to date while Sunderland have only the draw. They can be dangerous at home and while the season is early, could spring a surprise. Bookmakers are a little wary posting City at 10/11 with Sunderland good value at 7/2. The draw at 13/5 is also a good bet here. We’ll tip the draw.

We’re tipping away wins for the remaining games and in most cases. So too do the online bookmakers.
