Presidents Cup – Woods To Play Scott In Battle Of The Caddy

I guess I could have titled this post – “the caddy wars”, however, in this case, it’s Tiger Woods up against his former caddy Steve Williams. Williams was sacked by Woods before taking the job of caddy for Adam Scott. Since then, Williams has been in the news for all the wrong reasons when it comes to comments about Tiger Woods. That was then, this is now, and they’re going into battle in the Presidents Cup, a tournament the U.S. has dominated for many years.

The last time the International team won a Presidents Cup tournament was 13 years ago, interestingly, the same venue as this year’s Cup, the Royal Melbourne Golf Course. For Tiger Woods, he is probably more worried about going into this tournament as the lowest ranked player more than anything else – for the first time as well. It is certainly going to be an interesting tournament as eleven of the best U.S. golfers take on eleven of what the rest of the world has to offer.

Golf betting has the International team a marginal favourite at even money with the U.S. at 11/10. The draw at 14/1 is good value, and given the format of the tournament, not totally out of the question this year. Greg Norman is captain of the International team while Fred Couples will captain the U.S. team.

There’s no value betting on the outright results in this tournament. Grab some of the match day bets and you’ll find there’s much better value. On day one, it’s four ball and Tiger Woods will line up alongside Steve Stricker for the U.S. while Adam Scott will have KJ Choi as his partner. The Internationals are favoured to win this tie, however, we’re going to stick with Woods and back and Stricker to win their tie.
