Online Bookmakers Spurn Chelsea

If you still think that Chelsea can take out this season’s Premier League title then now is a great time to hit the online bookies. They have lost all faith, letting their price tumble out to 3/1, a tad longer in some places. Manchester United have firmed as favourite with Arsenal being the big mover.

United are now at even money in betting with Arsenal into 12/5. There is still plenty of time for Chelsea to regain the lead although this season is starting to look a little like last season – the only difference being Arsenal. Last season it was Liverpool that flew home at the end of the season and relegated Chelsea to third.

The situation has become a lot clearer at the other end of the table with online bookmakers no longer accepting bets for Portsmouth – they are gone with no chance for redemption.  Burnley, Hull, West Ham and Wolves are left to fight to avoid the last two relegation places. Wigan are looking to be safe now with seven points separating them from relegation.

In betting, Burnley are 1/7 to drop with Hull close up at 4/7. Online bookmakers seem to have drawn the line there with Wolves at 3/1 and West Ham at 4/1.  I can’t help but agree with all four sides having a tough last couple of weeks. West Ham do seem to have it the easiest.

Tonight’s game between West Ham and Wolves will really clear the air. The winner will move clear of the ruck and into relative safety. Of the final three, Hull could be the surprise to escape the drop. Wolves could be a good bet at value. The season is coming to an end but this is often a great time to take the bookies on. Online bookmakers play safe with the top and bottom sides, however, those in the middle are still playing for pride – and that’s where upsets occur.
