Novak Djokovic continues to take all before him as his unbeaten 2011 streak continues. The Miami Open is his current target, however, current world number one Rafael Nadal will be looking to avenge his loss to Djokovic last week, and at the same time bring to an end his unbeaten run this year.
Djokovic seems to have improved a lot over the last six months. He is undoubtedly spurred by the knowledge that a good season could dethrone Nadal from that number one ranking – more importantly, he could be the one promoted. That would the first time in over five years that the number one crown was worn by someone other than Nadal or Federer.
Bookmakers have Djokovic a firm favourite at 11/10 to win in Miami. Nadal is on the second line at 9/4 while Roger Federer seems to be working away quietly in the background and has drifted out to 6/1. You can write your own ticket on the rest with Mardy Fish heading them at 40/1.
It does look to be a three horse race and at 6/1 Federer does look to be good value. We certainly haven’t seen the end of him despite the many criticisms of his age. Twelve month ago he was winning grand slam events and there are more of those waiting for him – particularly the US Open.
On form, Djokovic should win. At this tournament, we’re going out on a limb and predicting a Federer victory so back him while the odds are goods.
