Murray On Track To Lower Djokovic’s Colours

While Novak Djokovic continues to win matches, he is not as convincing as he was at the beginning of the year and for the second tournament in a row, he has dropped sets to weaker opposition. Djokovic will take on Andy Murray in the final of the ATP Cincinnati Open and given Murray’s form in this tournament, he may become only the second person this year to come away with a win against the world number 1.

Online bookmakers have Djokovic a firm 4/11 favourite ahead of Murray who is 5/2. With Djokovic starting to look a little jaded, Murray comes into this event reasonably fresh. The one problem that top ranked players have is that winning means more games. Murray was an early exit in his last tournament while Djokovic has played in all matches – including the final. At 5/2, we’re tipping Murray to win.

In the women’s final, former number one Maria Sharapova takes on another former number one Jelena Jankovic. Sharapova has had a relatively smooth run to these finals, however, you can’t get much smoother than a walk-over, and that’s what Jankovic experienced in the quarter-finals. Women’s tennis finals are always great to watch and this should be a really top notch match. Bookmakers have Sharapova a clear 4/9 favourite, however, Jankovic at 13/5 is well worth some thought.

We’re tipping Sharapova to win, however, at 4/9 she doesn’t represent value. This could be a match where you’re better off leaving your wallet in your pocket and just sitting back and watching some great tennis. If you must have a bet, put a little on Jankovic, you’ll at least get a decent payout then.
