Moto GP Betting – Stoner Sets Record On B Bike

The Honda Moto GP team must be happy after seeing their top two riders claiming pole position for Sunday’s Moto Grand Prix of Aragon. Championship leader Casey Stoner lead the way in qualifying topping the times with a new track record a feat made remarkable considering he was riding his B bike after laying down is race bike in early practice sessions. Stoner’s team-mate Dani Pedrosa and Yamaha’s American rider Ben Spies will round out the front row following solid qualifying rides.

Jorge Lorenzo will start on the second row alongside the Italian duo of Andrea Dovizioso and Marco Simoncelli. While bookmakers have Stoner as the clear favourite to win this race, Lorenzo is making a good late burst in the race for championship honours, including a last start win. That win narrowed the gap between Lorenzo and Stoner marginally, and another win today will further cut into Stoner’s 35 point lead. I wouldn’t read too much into Stoner’s pole position today, he started pole in the last race and was quickly run down by Lorenzo.

In betting, Stoner is short at 5/6 and while his Pedrosa, his team mate, is next best at 3/1, we like the way Lorenzo is tackling his racing. Bookmakers have him at 6/1, good odds considering his position in the championship, and his recent form. The big surprise in Moto GP Betting is Valentino Rossi at 50/1. He crashed his Ducati early in the qualifying period and couldn’t recover. He will start from 13, but as a multi winner of the riders championship, he can never be left out of calculations.

Rossi has been quoted at 6/1 across most books for a top three finish. Ladbrokes have him at 16/1 if your quick, good odds considering his abilities. Our tip? We like Stoner, but he is a little short so we’re betting on Lorenzo to win at 6/1 with a side bet on Rossi to finish in the top three at 16/1.
