History Prevails As Online Bookmakers Dump Hamilton

The European Grand Prix has not been a happy hunting ground for British drivers. Both Lewis Hamilton and Jensen Button have a forgetful history in this event so when Red Bull landed the front row in today’s Grand Prix, online bookmakers had no hesitation in dropping Hamilton from favourite to the third line of betting. For punters, of course, this could represent some value.

Red Bull have raced well this year with Mark Webber at one stage holding a narrow lead in the drivers championship. His team mate, Sebastian Vettel has been thereabout and returned some solid performances. The problem is, there is some real rivalry there for championship points. The team has no driver preference, leaving them to fight out for on track positions. This has already resulted them coming together with disastrous results this year. With both drivers on the front row, the question on everyone’s lips is whether or not they will again take each other out, this time on the first corner.

If they do, Lewis Hamilton, who is on the second row, could get a saloon passage through to the front. From there, here is hard to hold off. History counts for nothing these days. Hamilton is at 5/1 in today’s race; Webber at 9/2 while online bookmakers have Vettel at 10/11 and favourite.

I don’t like Vettel’s odds. He is too impetuous and has shown that he has no qualms in taking his own team mate out if it gives him a chance of victory. So far, this tactic has seen him lose races, not win. Hamilton is in form, his car is firing when it comes to race day and his team seem to be making the right choices on race day. Everything is going right for him, and I think another victory is on the cards. History counts for nothing and while online bookmakers are prepared to take the risk, we can profit. Hamilton to win from Webber.
