Football Betting – Can United Bounce Back

Manchester United have a big game tomorrow away to Everton as they try to recover from the mauling handed out by cross-town rivals Manchester City last weekend. This is an interesting game statistically, with United not having a lot of luck at Goodison in recent years. On the flip side, Everton have only won one of four games at home this season, not exactly a confidence booster for punters. Much will depend on United’s mind set going into this game – are they ready to stamp their authority on the premiership, or will they be satisfied with their mid-week Carling Cup victory?

Bookmakers have Manchester United at 5/6 in football betting with Everton drifting to 4/1. The draw at 14/5 has also been unwanted in betting although given the form and history with these two sides, it probably deserves favouritism. With that in mind, we think the draw represents the best value and that’s our tip.

The second game tomorrow is equally fascinating. Chelsea are at home to Arsenal and under normal circumstances, Chelsea would be an automatic tip. Chelsea have shown some poor discipline in recent weeks suffering two send-offs last week and another in their mid-week Carling Cup clash. Arsenal are starting to show some form, however, they have not won away from home for eight matches now, while Chelsea haven’t been beaten at home for eleven games. Just to add another fact for the statistically minded, Arsenal have the record for the most wins against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Bookmakers have Chelsea at 4/6, Arsenal at 5/1 and the draw at 31/10. We’re tipping Chelsea to win, but it’s a game that could have punters hearts in their mouths whenever Chelsea lay tackles – you can be sure the referees will be watching them keenly. If you want a bet, back the draw, it’s very good value.

If you are after value, we’re tipping Villa at 11/4 to defeat Sunderland (5/4) and Bolton (11/4), who have a good away record, to defeat Swansea (15/13). The favourites should win the remaining games although there won’t be a lot of value in them – still, they add value to coupon bets.
