Football Betting – Newcastle And City Undefeated, But For How Long?

Manchester City and Newcastle United go into this weekend’s round of Premier League football as the only two undefeated teams in the Premier League. Since they are playing against each other, it will be interesting to see who comes away with that record intact. Football betting has City at long odds on to win – I am not sure they are good value given Newcastle’s record.

Bookmakers have Manchester City at 1/3 with Newcastle an outside chance at 10/1. The draw is good value at 9/2 and could be worth some thought. City have been free scoring this season while Newcastle have shown some stout defense – they have also been quick to rebound in attack. At 9/2, we’re backing a draw which will leave both sides still undefeated for another week.

In other games, we’re going for value this week. We think there are a few home games where the home sides are really false favourites. This opens the door for some decent odds on the visitors, and if just a few of these selections win, will see us in the black at level stakes.

Everton (8/13) host Wolverhampton (11/2) – how the bookies can make the Toffees favourite is beyond me. Sure, they are at home, but they have lost three homes games and their ability to score goals seems to have disappeared. Wolves are nothing special, but they are traveling well. We’re backing the draw in this game at 29/10 with saver on a Wolves victory.

Stoke (5/6) host Queens Park Rangers (4/1) – Stoke are in a similar position to Everton. They seem to have lost their strength at home and so could be vulnerable against a battling QPR. We’re tipping QPR at good odds with perhaps a saver on the draw at 3/1.

Finally, Wigan (8/5) host Blackburn (19/10) – this match pitches the bottom two teams in the competition, however, with Wigan boasting (perhaps not) a nine match losing stretch, it’s hard to tip them – so we won’t. Blackburn may be languishing near the bottom of the table, but they seem to be horribly unlucky at times. There have been three or four games this season where they should have come away with a win, instead, they have drawn or lost during the last minutes. We’re backing the Rovers at 19/10 in a game that may have relegation significance later in the season.
