Football Betting – The Wait Finally Ends

The English Premier League finally returns this weekend and while riots have caused the postponement of the Tottenham-Everton game, all the other games will play as scheduled. It will be an interesting first round with all teams looking to make a smart start to the season. The newly promoted teams will also be looking to make known their presence so it should make for an interesting football betting weekend.

It all starts tomorrow afternoon with Blackburn 15/13 at home to Wolves. The visitors are 11/4 to spring a win while the dray as always is hovering around the 12/5 mark. Blackburn have been strong at home as this weekend should be no different – Blackburn to win 3-2.

One of the more interesting contests will be between Fulham (6/5) and Villa (14/5). Fulham have been quiet achievers in recent years while Villa have been on the slide. It will be interesting to see if summer signings have brought a halt to this slide – we doubt it and predict Villa to finish in the bottom half of the draw this season. Fulham to win 2-0.

Liverpool at home are always short priced, however, their price of 8/15 against Sunderland is not the best of value. Sunderland at 7/1 is tempting as is the draw at 10/3. Sunderland have lost a few good players over the summer, but then, they have also bought well. We think the draw at 10/3 is the best value in this match.

New arrivals Queens Park Rangers are 7/5, first up against Bolton and this too could be an interesting football betting match. QPR are favourites but Bolton have been more than useful against lower sides and could surprise here. Bolton are good value at 12/5 and we tip them to win 1-0.

The best game of the day when it comes to value could be in the Wigan (6/5) v Norwich (11/4) match. Wigan are perennial underachievers who seem to remain in the top league by the skin on their teeth each season. They are one of the lowest scoring sides in recent history and with Norwich having some decent strike power, it only takes one accurate kick and they’ll come away with the three points. Norwich to win a tough defensive battle 1-0.

Tomorrow’s final game is that between Newcastle (3/1) and Arsenal (20/19). The Gunners are aiming high this season and to achieve their aims they must win games against this type of opponent, especially on the road. I want to see how well Arsenal play as a group before putting any money on them, especially away from home. At 3/1, Newcastle are good value and that’s the way we are going to lean. It should be a great game to watch, however.

Football betting is back, and we’ll be here every week trying to filter through the best bets available through online bookmakers.
