Football Betting – So Much At Stake And So Little Time

Although the football season is reaching a climax, we are fortunate this year that our football betting options aren’t closing down as well – we have the Football World Cup in South Africa just around the corner. In the meantime, with only two games left for most teams, there is plenty at stake and so little time. This weekend could be crunch time for some teams – in fact you couldn’t have asked for much better.

Manchester and Villa go into battle at 3.00 today with the winner living to fight another day. For the loser, the season will be all but over. Spurs currently hold down fourth place and have a relatively easy game at home against Bolton. For Villa, it’s a must-win situation. Spurs and City both have a game in hand (against each other) so a loss will see Villa probably finishing sixth.

For City, it’s a different situation. A win today will see the midweek clash against Spurs a title fight for fourth place with the winner in a position to claim the last birth in next season’s Champions League. In today’s game, City are understrength with their goal keeper out injured while Villa come into the match in top form. Online bookmakers have Villa at a shade over 3/1 and City a shade under even money. Take our tip – the draw at 11/4 looks to be great value.

Tomorrow looms as an interesting day as well with Chelsea traveling to an underperforming Liverpool while Manchester United travel to a tough Sunderland outfit. Chelsea lead the Premiership by a solitary point so a loss to either side could see their seasons coming to an end. Both sides have easy games next weekend to complete the season so wins this weekend are vital. Both sides are short priced favourites to win although a draw between Chelsea and Liverpool would not surprise.

This weekend is crunch time in the Premier League and given the way the season has progressed, I am sure we are in for more surprises. Can United claim another title? Can City snare fourth place from Spurs hands? This weekend could well finish the story of the 2009-2010 English Premier League season – roll on June and the World Cup – football betting at its best.
