EPL – The Rubber’s Not Quite Dead And Neither’s The Betting

The English Premier League football season is almost dead with interest purely focused on the top two teams. On paper, they are going into today’s final round with easy home games that they should win with ease. Of course, being football, anything can happen but if Chelsea lose at home against lowly Wigan then I am sure there will be more than just a few mumbles of discontent. The title is Chelsea’s to lose and it doesn’t matter what any other team does today – it’s all in their hands.

Of course, Manchester United are only a point behind and waiting to pounce. They too have an easy game at home against a reasonably good mid level team in Stoke – still, United should celebrate an easy home win. The betting on these two games are shot with both home sides favourites at long odds on. That doesn’t mean we can’t find some value bets to finish off the season.

Bolton host Birmingham in a game that could go against the betting odds trends. Birmingham will finish the season in the top half of the competition, not a bad effort for a side freshly promoted at the start of the season. They are playing well and could surprise Bolton. Birmingham are 5/2 with Bolton 5/4 and the draw also at 5/2. Birmingham to win away at reasonably good odds.

Liverpool have had a disappointing season finishing 7th (possibly 6th) and they travel to an equally disappointing Hull. The home side stormed through much of last season, playing exciting football and surprising many sides. Perhaps they surprised themselves – this season has been in stark contrast and they now find themselves relegated back to the Championship League for next season.

Do they have a last parting shot at the big time – I think they just may. Liverpool’s form is not great and with nothing but pride at stake in this game, Hull may just have that last say. At 6/1 win and 7/2 the draw, those odds are too good to pass up.

The EPL season is drawing to a close, but that of course heralds but one thing – the start of the World Cup finals in South Africa. Be sure to stick with us as we take you through all the World Cup betting options.
