It’s fitting that the last day of summer has England taking on India in a one off twenty/20 match. The two sides have battled through the summer with England coming out well on top and finally returning the number one position in world cricket test match rankings. It has been a long time since English cricket was in such good stocks – they currently hold the Twenty/20 World Cup, the number one ranking in the world, and the all-important Ashes – not bad for a side that commentators thought were complete duds.
Today’s twenty/20 match will be interesting from a number of perspectives. It will be Stuart Broad’s second game as captain and he’ll be going into the game with possible three rank novices (in terms of international cricket). England are rebuilding their twenty/20 team ready for next year’s defense of their title. In the meantime, India are scraping to put together a team following their horror summer of injuries. These injuries have taken the gloss of England’s victories with some critical of England’s claim to fame having beaten a second string Indian side – I think most of the players for India would take offense at that suggestion.
Bookmakers are expecting England to continue to dominate with England’s odds into the red at 8/11. India have had some support and are in to 6/5 – fairly short odds considering the state of their team. This will certainly be an entertaining game, and for those who are really keen on a punt, betting in play on outcomes such as the next wicket, the next six and who’ll take the next catch is possible. If you like to bet in play, load up your favourite bookmaker in your computer browser, then sit back and watch the game while watching the odds available – it can certainly add a little extra to what should be a great game of twenty/20 cricket.
