As England prepares for their one day series against India in India, bookmakers are struggling to find correct score odds. The only outcome that most bookmakers can agree on are whitewash results with an England 5-0 victory at 25/1 and an Indian 5-0 victory at 15/1. India will be smarting from their poor performances in England this past summer and they will be desperate for revenge, especially with home fans cheering (and jeering) them on.
In correct score cricket betting, bookmakers have and Indian 3-2 victory as favoured outcome at 2/1. An England 3/2 victory is second pick at 5/2 while a 4-1 series win is at 6/1. India are 4/1 to take a 4-1 series win. Interestingly, Bet Fair are the only bookmakers betting on other results, and they have made a 2-2 draw the favourite at 14/10.
We’re going to go out on a limb and predict a 4-1 English series win. England are quite rightly very confident at present. Their bowlers are playing well, and you know a cricket team is riding well when they have to leave a last game centurion out of the team, simply because there’s no room for them – that’s how well they are all playing. India still have players recovering from injuries sustained over the summer, and without hard match practice, some may struggle to have an immediate impact.
The key to this series will be the first game on Friday. If England can strike first, the home crowd reaction could put the Indian team on the defensive for the rest of the series. More importantly, they will need to win twice to take a series lead, while England will only require two more wins to take the series. England played very well at home over the summer – their real test now comes away from home. We’re taking those good odds for a 4-1 series win.
