Champions League Betting – Easy Road For Premier League Sides

Champions League returns this week, however, if you’re looking for good value bets, you should consider looking elsewhere. All four Premier League sides appear to have easy games. Of course, that can often be the trap, especially given the current form of Chelsea, and to a lesser extent, Manchester City. If there is a difficult match, it could be Manchester City’s away game to Villareal.

This week Champions League betting starts with Arsenal (4/6) hosting Marseille (5/1). We thought the French team may have had a chance at home, however, on Arsenal’s home turf, we think the 4/6 for Arsenal is pretty good value. The draw at 3/1 is unwanted, and we don’t want it either. Arsenal started the season awkwardly but have come together nicely and their recent wins against tough opponents have really boosted their confidence. Arsenal to win 3-0.

Chelsea travel to Belgium to take on Genk (14/1) and whilst they are in somewhat of a form and discipline slump, it is hard to see them being beaten. Genk’s best chance is if Chelsea (1/4) have multiple players sent off again. We’re tipping a more disciplined approach this week and a Chelsea victory.

On Wednesday, Manchester United (1/9) host the Romanian Otelul Galati (33/1). As the odds suggest, even an off colour United should be able to handle this game. The odds are poor, but then, it’s better than current interest rates. United by a cricket score.

The final game will be an interesting one with Spanish champions Villarreal (5/1) hosting Manchester City (8/11). City are in good form, however, those odds are poor value considering it’s an away game. Villarreal are not as strong as they once were, but they are certainly better than the 5/1 on offer. I’d be tempted to back Villarreal at the 5/1 on offer and the draw at 14/5 – they are both good value against a City side that may be too confident.
