Carling Cup Betting – Can United Bounce Back

Manchester United suffered their worse lost in recent history going down to arch rivals Manchester City 1-6 on Sunday. What made the loss even more galling for fans was the fact it was at home, and that it was the first loss at home for over a year. Tomorrow, United travel to League Two minnows Aldershot in the Carling Cup, and while road trips are always difficult, one would think they could at least take the three points in this match.

Bookmakers have Aldershot at 12/1 with United well into the red at 2/7. We’re tipping United to bounce back and thrash Aldershot just to give their confidence a real boost; they’ll need it with a testing away match to Everton this Saturday.

In other Carling Cup games, Arsenal (8/13) have found their winning ways and should be too good at home to Bolton (11/2); Cardiff City (20/19) should claim a win against Burnley (3/1); while Crystal Palace (11/5) may struggle against the all conquering Southampton (13/10).

On Wednesday, the interest heats up with interesting clashes between several Premier League clubs. Stoke (5/2) used to hard to beat at home, however they seem to have lost that edge and may find Liverpool (13/10) to strong. Wolves (13/2) are in a similar situation as they host Manchester City (4/7) . City have a real belief in themselves now, and this will only serve to make them stronger.

One of the better Carling Cup betting games this week is between Blackburn (28/17) and Newcastle (9/5). The Toons are unbeaten so far this season and they will be looking to add Blackburn to their victims list. At 9/5, Newcastle are probably the best value bet this week. The final game between Everton (9/4) and Chelsea (13/10) could challenge that. Chelsea are becoming a little undisciplined when seriously challenged, and this cost them dearly over the weekend with two players being sent off. Chelsea are also away from home against a Toffees outfit that is growing in confidence every week. We’re tipping Everton to claim success in this game, adding even more to Chelsea’s recent misfortunes.
