Can The Toffees Defy The Betting Odds

Everton have had a good run of late and come into today’s game with form on their side – can they defy their betting odds? Their problem is, they are facing current Premier League champs Manchester United. What is in Everton’s favour is that they are at home and that United’s away form hasn’t been crash hot.

Manchester United are second on the Premier League table and deserve to be favourites for this game, however, at 5/6 I don’t know if they are good value. The Toffees on the other hand are at 4/1, good value all things considered. The draw at 13/5 is probably worth a second look too.

This could be an interesting game to watch. United need to keep winning if they are to regain the lead at the top of the table. For Everton, they are slowly climbing the table and could move up to 8th with a win. Of course, other games being played today will have an impact on these standings.

Arsenal, West Ham and Portsmouth should have home wins although the latter face a tough one against Stoke. The real interest will be in relegation bound Wolves home-clash against Chelsea. Wolves are at 11/1 to win with Chelsea firm favourites at 4/11. I’m not willing to back Chelsea at those odds, especially since their away record isn’t too hot either. The draw at 4/1 looks attractive in this match as well. I suggest, at those betting odds, you sit out this match.

The game of the round is on Sunday where Manchester City host Liverpool. The Reds are on the comeback and have a good record coming into this match. City on the other hand are in a position where they must win if they want to hang on to a top four finish. City’s next match is away to Chelsea which, on current form, will result in a loss. A loss on tomorrow followed by loss against Chelsea could allow Liverpool, Spurs and perhaps even Villa to gain a 4 or 5 point lead on the Premier Table. Could this be another draw? The betting odds are in our favour!
