Football attention moves to the Champions League this week with both Chelsea and Arsenal taking perfect scores into their games. Arsenal has the hardest game of the two traveling to take on group challenger Shakhtar Donetsk. Chelsea on the other hand are at home although also playing against their group challenger, Spartak Moscow.
Chelsea lead this week’s betting at 2/7 with their opponents unwanted in betting at 12/1. At home, Chelsea should have little trouble in making it 4 wins from 4 starts. Arsenal have impressed on the road so far this season with their comprehensive win against Manchester City a real highlight. Arsenal, although on the road, have been made favourite for this game at 16/11 with Shaktar well in at 21/10. Arsenal are playing good football and I suspect they’ll bring back the three points from this game as well.
Manchester United have not had a good start to the season although they do lead their group with seven points out of a possible nine. They travel again this week although they are meeting the weakest team in the group in Bursaspor. Although they are still to score their first point for the season, bookmakers have them cautiously priced at 9/2 with United in the red at 8/11. The draw at 11/4 looks attractive, however, we’ll tip United to add three to their tally.
Tottenham Hotspurs have the chance to go joint top of their table when they host table leaders Inter Milan tonight. Spurs have four points from nine while Inter sit on seven out of nine. A win at home will open the group right up with both sides going into the final games on seven points each.
Betting is interesting on this game with Spurs marginal favourites at 17/10. Inter are at 9/5 (18/10) with the draw highly fancied at 12/5. Both sides have had interesting seasons and it’s hard to pick one with any certainty. Spurs are at home where they normally play well so we’ll tip and English clean sweep of this week’s games. It would certainly make for an interesting coupon bet.
