Bookmakers Predict Vettel Procession In Monaco

The Monaco procession – oops, Grand Prix – is one of today’s feature sporting events. As with most Monaco Grand Prix events, the pole sitter, short of doing something silly like crashing, will win and win easily. When the pole sitter is Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel, there’s no betting.

Vettel has become one of the safest drivers on the circuit this season, and with Red Bull securing all six pole positions this season, their reliability and form look good for this race. There were surprises in the final battle for starting positions. A serious accident took 15 minutes away from the timing session. This cost Lewis Hamilton any chance of posting a decent time – he will start from nine on the gird.

Jensen Button was the second fastest and will start alongside Vettel. The second Red Bull driven by Mark Webber will start from three while Fernando Alonso will start from four. If Vettel gets a good start and leads into the first bend, then you can almost go stand in line to collect your winnings. Of course, this is motor racing, and motor sport betting of any description can spring surprises.

In betting, bookmakers have Vettel a short-priced favourite at 4/7 with Jenson Button second elect at 6/1. Webber is out to 11/1 with Alonso rounding out the top four at 12/1.

Vettel should win, but I wouldn’t be putting the rent money on him. Button knows this circuit well and starting alongside Vettel, he is well placed to challenge early. If Vettel has any problem at all at the start, then Button will be all over him and into the lead. Passing on this circuit is almost impossible and at 6/1, appears to be a good value bet. Our brain says Vettel in a procession – our heart says have a small flutter on Button.
