Bookmakers Having A Field Day On Royal Wedding

Britain’s biggest event for the 21st Century takes place this week when Prince William marries Kate Middleton. Bookmakers are having a real field day on this event with bets as diverse as the Queen shedding a tear as the bride walks down the aisle (17/1 yes-no betting on no) to how many celebrity interviews the BBC will squeeze in during their broadcast of the event. Although some of these bets appear to be rather silly, there are some serious bets being taken.

The most popular bets are on the honeymoon location. Jordan has been backed into 11/10 favourite followed by Australia at 3/1 and Kenya at 7/2. Mustique is next best at 5/1 followed by Namibia and Scotland at 8/1. We’re tipping they will stay closer to home with Wales at 18/1 or France at 25/1 looking good. If they do venture further afield, Australia at 3/1 and New Zealand at 16/1 are strong possibilities.

Other popular bets include whether or not it will rain on the wedding day, an interesting bet given some bookies have yes at 1/1 and no at 8/11 while others have it reversed. The weather bureau can’t even help you at present.

Events like the Royal Wedding can offer some interesting odds, which smart punters play to almost guarantee a profit. One bet, how late the bride is, has a wide range of bets available depending on which bookmaker you bet with. You can get 3/1 she will arrive early and 7/2 on time. Being 3-6 minutes late is at 5/2 while 6 to 11 minutes late is at 11/2. If you’re adventurous, you can back plus 30 minutes late at 10/1.

If you’re looking for some interesting bets on the Royal Wedding, then you should visit your favourite online bookmaker. You can bet on just about any part of the wedding including the colour of the Queen’s hat, the colour of the bride’s bikini while on honeymoon, and even the colour Of Victoria Beckham’s dress – trust the Beckhams to feature at a Royal Wedding as well – but then, bookmakers will offer odds on just about anything these days.
