English Cricket Fans To Regain That Winning Feeling

English cricket has experienced both ends of the spectrum over the last 12 months. Last summer they wrestled the number one ranking from India, however, they then followed that up with a dismal 3-0 loss to Pakistan and 1-1 drawn series in Sri Lanka. Back on home turf, they will be looking to reverse those numbers as they take on the West Indies. The three test series looks to be England’s for the asking – the question then is whether they turn up to play, or turn up to party.

The tests will be played at Lords, Trent Bridge and Edgbaston. England’s record on these grounds is fairly impressive having played 17 times for 12 outright wins. Add to this England’s recent form against the West Indies – 14 tests for 12 wins and 2 draws.

When it comes to test cricket betting, bookmakers have England at 2/1 to win 2-0, 21/10 to win 3-0, and 7/1 to win 1-0. You’ll get much longer odds for any other result. England’s biggest enemy won’t be the West Indies, it’ll be the weather. However, with England capable of defeating the West Indies in three or four days, they may even force results despite the weather.

At 21/10, a 3-0 English win looks to be a good bet. Over half of the West Indian team have failed to play any cricket in England, so their lack of experience will tell. Graham Swan looks to be a good bet for the leading wicket taker and it’s almost impossible to go past Chanderpaul as the West Indies top batsmen.

Once England have dealt with the West Indies the hard work will really set in as they follow this series with one against South Africa. They are hot on England’s tail when it comes to the world number one raking. England need a solid series against the West Indies to prepare themselves. England to win 3-0 – great value at 21/10.
